Courts raises funds for Red Cross Home for the Disabled

Courts Singapore, the largest retailer of electrical, IT products and furniture, has raised $120,000 for Red Cross Home for the Disabled (RCHD) through a golf fundraising event.

“Courts’ generous donation to the Red Cross Home for the Disabled has enabled the purchase and retrofitting of a transporter, which would be used to ferry our residents to and from medical appointments, and for recreational outings,” shared Mr Christopher Chua, Secretary General of the Singapore Red Cross Society.

To celebrate the arrival of the vehicle, Courts organised a Day Out for 10 wheelchair-bound residents of the Red Cross Home for the Disabled to experience the new vehicle, transporting them from their Home to Courts Megastore to enjoy a Day Out at the Megastore.

The new handicapped-friendly vehicle was officially unveiled at the Megastore by Mr Terry O’Connor, Chief Executive Officer of Courts and Mr Chua.

“Our CSR policy is to give back to the society that we trade in, not only in monetary contribution but adding value in helping to deliver operational improvement.  We hope, the new vehicle will help ease the transportation needs and provide the residents of the Red Cross Home for the Disabled a more convenient means to get around,” said Mr O’Connor.

The Red Cross Home for the Disabled is Singapore’s only residential home for the severely disabled. Last month, it moved to larger premises at Family Link @ Lengkok Bahru.
