NEA trains Singapore Red Cross to be more energy - efficient

The National Environment Agency (NEA) has trained 60 Singapore Red Cross staff and volunteers in energy reduction methods and to carry out energy audits.

The training covered ways to reduce power use, hence teaching charities to be more energy efficient.

The Red Cross will also conduct energy audits for its beneficiaries such as the Red Cross for the Disabled (RCHD) and its headquarters. They are aiming to reduce 10% energy consumption by end of this year.

Last year, NEA launched the project “10 percent Energy Challenge campaign” to get the public to cut out unnecessary energy consumption. Red Cross will be the first charity organisation to participate in this campaign.

Singapore Red Cross Chairperson, Mr. Tee Tua Ba said, “Our staff, volunteers and youth will be participating in this campaign, practice the energy-saving habit and then pass on the knowledge to family members and peers.”

The Salvation Army and Singapore International Foundation will be the next non-profit organisation participating in this training.
