The Singapore Red Cross and the Blood Services Group of the Health Sciences Authority are partners in the National Blood Programme. The Singapore Red Cross was appointed the role of the National Blood Donor Recruiter in 2001, to work in partnership with the Blood Services Group of the Health Sciences Authority to ensure an adequate supply of safe blood to meet the daily transfusion needs of all hospitals in Singapore.
The role of the Red Cross is in the management of the recruitment, retention and recognition programmes, to motivate people to become blood donors and bloodmobile organisers to and partner the Red Cross in serving the community and saving lives.
As a humanitarian organisation, the Red Cross also recruits, trains and manages a pool of volunteers to support the outreach programmes to recruit and retain blood donors; provide routine blood donor care services at collection centres and be operationally ready for donor management during times of emergencies and disasters.
A youth donor club was started in 2006, targeting to motivate young people to donate blood and start young. The programme is focused on four main areas: Youth Give: an outreach programme where members organize an annual road show cum bloodmobile to heighten awareness on the importance of voluntary blood donations and recruit youth donors. Youth Meet: An annual training camp where youth blood donors meet to learn more about blood and blood donation and to share experiences in blood donation. Youth Talk: an educational programme where members are trained to conduct talks and road shows in schools on blood and blood donations. Youth Play: A platform for members to bond and develop themselves.

How You Can Help
You can come forward and share the gift of life with those in need. Organisations are welcome to pledge their support towards the National Blood Programme by encouraging their employees and members to be regular blood donors.
The SRC also welcomes individuals to join its team of volunteers to reach out to more Singaporeans and help heighten public awareness on the importance of blood donation.
