Singapore Red Cross Sends First Consignment of Relief Goods

18 March 2011 – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has arranged for the Singapore Embassy in Tokyo to receive the humanitarian aid from Singapore.

The first consignment of 30 pallets comprising 10,000 bottles of water (500 ml), 1,200 blankets and 200 mattresses will be sent at 7am Singapore time on 19 March. The consignment will reach Narita airport at 5.50pm, Japan time.

The second consignment of 4,000 collapsible water containers and 5,000 blankets will reach Narita Airport on 20 March.

The Singapore Red Cross (SRC) raised a total of S$1.63 million thus far for the relief efforts of the recent Japan earthquake and tsunami. This amount does not include the S$500,000 pledged by the Government of Singapore.
